Movie Review: "Greater"

Today, I am writing a review for the movie, "Greater".  Greater is based on the true life story of Brandon Burlsworth who is perhaps the greatest walk-on in college football history.  Grace Hill Media provided me with a pre-screening copy to view and review.  The movie opens in theaters on Friday.

If you know me, I am not a sports person at all, but I am a sucker for a "great" sports movie.  Greater did not disappoint, it was a wonderful movie!  I laughed, I cried, and cried and cried :)
One of the things I liked about this movie is how it dealt with so many life issues.

-Bullying
-Overcoming obstacles
-Sports
-Youth and mentor relationships
-Family ties
-Friendship
-Alcoholism
-Faith
-Loss
-Why bad things happen
-Doubting your Faith

I cannot say enough good things about this movie.  The acting was well done, and the film itself is family friendly.  This truly is a movie for the whole family to watch together.  For parents trying to decide if their children should watch, there are a few words of profanity (light), but not anything compared to many of the movies out there today.

I won't give away too much more of the movie, but as a mother of 3 sons, I would be proud if my sons are anything like Brandon Burlsworth.  He truly was a role model for all to follow.  He was a young man of Faith, and God used him to touch so many lives.  I was encouraged in my Faith as well.

Go see the movie this weekend!  You will not be disappointed either...

VeggieTales Review (The Little House That Stood)

My generous friends at Grace Hill Media gave me a complimentary copy of the new VeggieTales DVD, "The Little House That Stood" to review, and they are giving me another one to give away :)

All of my children are over the age of ten, and so the days of hearing and watching VeggieTales has passed for me.  My children loved the VeggieTales movies and to be honest so did I.  I did jump at the opportunity to review the new VeggieTales when offered by Grace Hill Media.   The new movie, "The Little House That Stood" was well done and reminded me of the many VeggieTales movies I have watched over the years with my children.  The quality of this movie was exactly what you would expect to see from the makers of VeggieTales.

"The Little House That Stood" DVD's main lesson is about "making good choices".  The movie's main VeggieTale characters play the roles of some of the most beloved NURSERY RHYME characters.  The lessons are taken from parables in the Bible, with the main tale focusing in on "building our house on a solid foundation".  The other story, "The Good Egg of Gooseville" emphasis is on being a good neighbor, which made me tear up a little at the end.  Oh, and for those that love a little "Silly Song" from Larry you will not be disappointed :)

I would definitely recommend this movie for the family, and Grace Hill Media is giving me a copy to give away.  All you have to do is leave a comment telling me what your favorite VeggieTales movie is,  If you have never watched a VeggieTales movie, let me know that as well.  The contest will end on March 6th at Noon CST.

Blessings
