Telemarketer Evangelism & A Giveaway!!!

Hey there... I have been wanting to write this post for about 3 days now, but have been busy. One reason I wanted to write it earlier is because details quickly slip from my mind, but I will get the main points of the story correct.

I was listening to Midday Connection a few days ago, and Carol Kent (awesome speaker and she has an heart wrenching testimony) was the guest speaker. During her interview Carol shared a story about one of her friends (Let's just call her friend "Linda").

Carol said that one day Linda called her up and was so excited that she just talked to a telemarketer...Carol listened as Linda told her that she asked the telemarketer the question, "If I answer all your questions, will you answer a question for me?" OK, right here I gotta give the telemarketer a name, because I am tired of writing the word telemarketer :) (We will call her Susan) So Susan asked Linda a bunch of telemarketing questions, and when she was finished Linda asked her question. Linda asked Susan a question like, "Susan if today were your last day on earth do you have the assurance that you would go to Heaven?" Susan replied something like, "No, and I have been in fear about that lately."

Linda then shared the Gospel of Jesus with her and Susan gave her life to Christ on the phone. WOW!!! We probably have so many opportunities to share the Gospel daily and weekly that we miss. I want to learn to keep my eyes and ears open so that I can act like Linda did that day.

OK... Now for the GIVEAWAY. I am giving away Carol Kent's latest book "A New Kind of Normal". It is a great book. Click here to visit Carol's website and get more information on the book if you do not already know her story. I am only shipping with the US for this Giveaway... (I purchased the book and read it, so it is not officially brand new, but like brand new :)

Blessings

(Just leave a comment to enter the giveaway... I will close the giveaway next Friday)

10 of my (Current) Favorite Things

In Honor of the New Year 2010, I will do a top ten list of my Favorite things. Honestly, a lot of the things on the list are just pure blessings to me. In the last year or so I have been confronted many times with the fact that I need to be more thankful...thankful for everything... I grew up as an ungrateful selfish kid, and I have had a lot of learning to do in this area. So, on with my list.

(My bloggy friend did a picture post with a list not to long ago, and I so enjoyed it, so here is my picture post list)

My Bible...I am in the beginning stages of developing a love relationship with God's Word... I am going to pray that it continues...
This movie is awesome...I need to do a post on just the quotes from Arthur B. from this movie. Go buy it (have to order online for now)... You will be challenged deeply, and get out your tissues. Our God is Awesome!!!
This book has helped me to learn some things about prayer that I had not really thought of before...It is not so much about the book, but that the Lord has been challenging me in my prayer life. I can't wait to see what will happen.
There is a big story that goes with this book. I am currently walking through a journey that leads to freedom. This book is just a small tool in that journey. I cannot wait to share more about this...

Don't judge this pathetic looking socks... They are probably about 4 years old, but they are the warmest things ever. If I have these socks on it doesn't matter how cold it is, I will be warm :)

This is one of my current Quiet Time spots...it will change soon when we move, but I just love looking out the window and praying to God. What you can't see is a tiny heat register that I love to stick my cold feet on (that is if I am not wearing my warm socks :)

I wrote a post about these boots awhile ago (I will try to find the link) I am currently living in these boots...most of the time they don't match what I am wearing, but I enjoy having cozy feet. These are the knock-offs of the more expensive ones, but I love them...

This is my Pre-K classroom... I believe God gave me this job 3 years ago because He knew that I needed this job. It has been such a source of blessings to me for so many reasons over the last 3 years... My coworkers, the kids, the parents, the routine, and a tool to teach me a lot of lessons that I needed and need to learn.
I don't have a picture for the this blessing, but I am thankful for Holly and for the new design she gave my blog. I have made some friends from the blog world, and last week I got to talk to Holly on the phone and it was like we knew each other forever. Love it.
This cream truly is a miracle to these dry cracked hands...Seriously, this stuff works... I am not lying :) (ask me if you want to know where to buy it)
Well, that is number 10... Blessings...
PS. Tell me what are your current favorite things or blessings???

Does this count?

My youngest wanted to make a snowman, but the snow was not the kind of snow that allows you to make a cool snowman. I am from Florida, and was very surprised to find out that you cannot always make a snowman when you want to... you need wet snow, and not the powder kind...Who knew?
Well, this day my son wanted to make a snowman, and the snow wasn't cooperating, but we at least got the head of the snowman built... a momma with skills (OK, I am sure no skills are required for this, but let me think I did something cool :)

New Year, New Look, New Vision

Happy 2010!!! God willing, this year will be different for me.

My title refers to a new year and a new look. The new look refers to my blog design. I am in the process of getting my blog redesigned in hopes that it will reflect my "New Vision" for 2010.

2009 was a year that kept hitting me with the truth that everything I do should be to the honor and glory of God. Now I know that I will never attain perfection in my life, and have EVERYTHING in my life honor God, but it has to be my goal. So with this idea I am going to attempt to honor God with my blog.

Although I would like to think this blog does honor God, I know it has not at times, because this blog has been a stumbling block for me. HOW?

- This blog has been a place where I have sought the affirmation of men (women).

-This blog has caused me to covet what others out there in blog world have.

-This blog has led me to jealously, insecurity, comparison and pride.

OK, I think you get the picture. Really anything in my life can cause the above sins to surface, but at times these sins surfaced through my blogging experience. I am thankful that God allowed me to see these sins, because now God can free me of them if I repent.

On the other hand, this blog has been a wonderful experience for me. I have got to know some very special blog friends. I know it sounds crazy, but if you blog you understand. I have been encouraged and challenged more times than I can count by others in the blogworld.

This blog has also allowed me to keep up with family and friends since I moved five years ago. I think the most important thing about this blog is that for the most part it has been a spiritual journal for me. Amidst the crazy posts about my life and the countless pictures of my family and friends, there have been a handful of precious blog entries that documented my experiences with the Lord. Experiences I don't think I would have written down. Experiences that might have been forgotten as I age (this old mind is a slippin :)

So this year, this blog (and many other things) will be under evaluation. My goal is that only the things that will help me grow closer to God will remain in my life. I am a stubborn woman, and my human nature can be so strong, but God willing I will make the choices that will honor Him, and help me TO KNOW HIM better.

Happy New Year!!!

PS. Thank you Holly for a wonderful new design... If you are looking for a new blog design, click here to visit Holly. She is wonderful and loves the Lord :)
